Director of Youth Ministries
Clairemont Lutheran Church, a Christian community of faith in San Diego, is seeking a Youth Ministry Director.
The ideal candidate would be a Christ-centered person with lots of energy and enthusiasm, especially for sharing God’s grace and love with young people. A professional and educational background in Christian ministry with an emphasis in youth and young adults is preferred, but not a requirement. Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus, but not required.
The Youth Ministry Director will lead weekly activities with high school teens. This includes, but is not limited to, a weekly 1.5 hour youth group meeting on Sunday evenings, which may include bible study, discussions, games and fellowship. Other activities include field trips and fellowship outings, community service projects, mission trips (which could be in the U.S., Mexico or the Caribbean), a tri-annual regional youth gathering and a tri-annual national youth gathering.Additionally, we would want the Youth Ministry Director to not just be a staff member, but a person who will become a regular part of our faith community, including participating in one of our three weekly worship gatherings as well as special observances throughout the year. As a member of the church staff, the Youth Ministry Director may also be asked to perform other job duties as assigned by pastor(s).
The Youth Ministry Director is a part-time, hourly lay ministry (non-pastoral) position. Successful applicants must provide proof of authorization to work in the United States prior to employment. Hourly wage/monthly stipend will be based upon experience and according to guidelines set forth by the church council. The position reports to the Associate Pastor(s) and Senior Pastor.
Clairemont Lutheran Church is a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Ideal applicants should have an understanding of the Christian faith and biblical principles from the mainline Christian traditions, or be willing to learn and embrace our teachings as found in the Bible, the creeds, and the Lutheran Confessions.
